The 43rd Edition of the Montreal International Auto Show (MIAS), presented by Desjardins General Insurance, kicked off on January 14th, 2011 at Palais des congrès de Montréal. Once again this year, every manufacturer will be on hand to present their latest models and technologies. The show runs until January 23, 2011.
Several new cars made their Canadian debut at the show which was good news as the just concluded Detroit Motor usually steals the limelight when it comes to debuts.
This year, the show is hosting a Performance Zone on Level 7 where visitors feasted their eyes on around 40 modified vehicle showing remarkable creativity. The Zone was thronged by visitors all capturing the moments on their cameras.
This year, the environmentally-themed section On Route to the Future is presented in collaboration with Hydro-Québec. You will find the latest technologies about electric vehicles and get useful information about personal transport electrification, more specifically on electric cars recharging, alternative energies and green technologies. Hydro-Québec is also presenting the Mitsubishi i-MiEV which is being tested by the company through the most important pilot project on electric vehicles in Canada.
Another attraction will be Suzuki test drives presented by AutoHEBDO. This manufacturer offers visitors the chance to try the new Kizashi. About twelve vehicles will be available for the visitors. Participants will have the chance to take one of these vehicles for a spin around the Palais des congrès.
And one of the main attractions this year is The Plethore, the car of the day made in Quebec, will be shown in its final version, ready for the road. Definitely worth the detour!

The Auto Show Contest
The much-anticipated Auto Show contest will give the chance to a few lucky winners to walk away with amazing gifts. This year, the grand prize is
a 2011 BMW 323i, Luxury Edition, offered by BMW Canada (approximate value of $39,250).
The drawing will be held around 3:30 pm on Sunday, January 23, 2011 in collaboration with Radio NRJ and La Presse / Cyberpresse. The finalists who will participate in the final drawing will be selected among Radio NRJ listeners, La Presse / Cyberpresse readers and Auto Show visitors who will have dropped off their contest coupon before Saturday, January 22, 2011, 10:00 pm. The announcement of the winner will be aired on Radio NRJ on Sunday, January 23, 2011, around 3:50 pm.
All the other prizes of the Auto Show contest will be distributed to Auto Show visitors. The drawing of these prizes will be done around 3:30 pm on Sunday, January 23, 2011 and winners will be selected among the visitors who will have dropped off their contest coupon before Saturday, January 22, 2011, 10:00 pm.
These prizes are:
A trip for two to Tunisia, all-inclusive (9 days, 7 nights) offered by Sultana Tours (value of $3,700);
One (1) of five (5) $1,000 Sonic gas coupons (total value of $5,000);
One (1) of ten (10) “intensive antitheft markings”®, offered by Sherlock (total value of $2,390);
One (1) of two (2) $1,000 credits for automobile insurance from Desjardins General Insurance (total value of $2,000).
